Twilight is No. 1 Netflix rental at Beale

January 14, 2010

Our newest database at the Appeal-Democrat features the most popular rentals of 2009 in the Mid-Valley through Netflix. Big thanks to Interactive Content Producer Robert LaHue for doing the legwork on putting this together.

Some interesting tidbits from this search:

• “Twilight” made a big impression in the Mid-Valley, though it was only at the top of the charts at Beale Air Force Base.

• Speaking of Beale, comedies dominated the ranks of the rented with 16 of the top 50 movies coming out of that genre led by Adam Sandler’s “Bedtime Stories”. Drama was close behind with 10 titles led by “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” followed by “Bangkok Dangerous” leading Action & Adventure

• After spending most of 2008 reading through Proposition 8 letters to the editor, I was curious how “Milk” played in the area. Marysville and Yuba City were nowhere to be found on the list, though East and West Yuba City made it their 46th and 38th most rented movies respectively. It was in the top 10 of Camptonville, Challenge and Oregon House.

• Oddly, Season 2 of Mad Men was the only one to make the list anywhere because someone in Rackerby watched it. Well, when I say watched it, only discs 1, 2 and 4 are on the list. Same thing goes for Weeds Season 4 discs 2 and 3 as well as The Shield Season 1 disc 2. It’s OK to watch the whole thing.

Well that’s enough from me. Let me know what interesting things you find in the database in the comments section of this post
